Sometimes Amazon Does Really Good…

March 3rd, 2005 · 7 Comments

I was just taking a look at the ads which pop up on my site, and the book I’m reading right now was one of them, which is “the curious incident of the dog in the night time.” And, while I harbor illusions of eventually being able to be like Chris and write reviews of all the books I read in a month (right now it’s looking like “in a semester” since sitting down and actually writing out my thoughts on a book takes a long time), I really wanted to share that (though I’m only in the middle) this book is AMAZING and CLEVER and the HARDEST THING TO PUT DOWN. Seriously, I’ve had to leave it at home today, because I’ve had homework to read and would end up reading that instead. It’s a short book and a VERY EASY read, so if you’re looking for something perfect for your commute or a short plane/train ride, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND it.

I picked the audiobook up from audible a while back, but haven’t gotten to it yet. Maybe that’ll be my next listen.

Hmmm. I’m not sure if I would have liked it as an audiobook, you’ll have to know what you think, Jay.

Well, I started it last night on my ride home from work. I only got about 12 minutes in, but so far it’s quite enjoyable. The reader, Jeff Woodman, is quite good (he also was the narrator for “Life of Pi” which Denise and I really enjoyed listening to together).

If you want to hear a sample, go to audible.com, click the “Browse Audio” tab at the top, and then search for it. There’s a 10 minute excerpt that, oddly enough, ends at the point I’m at in the book right now (the way audible is set up I can’t just give you a link).

Listening to unabridged audiobooks is my favorite way to read(Stephen King refers to listening to unabridged books reading, and so do I).

I’m doing my best to do some writing on the novel every single day. I’m not going to make my original goal for finishing the first draft of the novel by the end of April, but it should be close (I hope). The back is getting better, but it still bot…
