I just had the best little meeting ever. The head of the Graphic Design department here is the type of woman I really want to impress. There truly is something about her that makes me stand a little straighter and work a little harder when she’s around. I like that.

I needed her signature to switch from an Associate’s program to a Bachelor’s, and she’s been out of the office the last few times I’ve been there. I don’t mind though, she teaches and does a lot of other things, and it’s understandable that she isn’t around all the time. She’s cool.

Last quarter, toward the beginning, she had subbed for my Drawing teacher. This is how I knew she was cool and the type I wanted to impress. But that was months ago, and there are a LOT of graphic design students and just students in general that she sees each day. I told myself I wouldn’t be upset if she didn’t remember me.

But, hell, I can be really proud that she did, right? That she told me that with all the natural talent she saw in that one day I should really be in the Bachelor’s program? Well, poo on you if you say no. I’m going to be proud anyway. She gave me all sorts of recommendations for technical elective classes. I’ve decided that, unlike my BU advisor whom I saw once in my carreer there, I’m going to need to stop in and touch base with her at least once a semester. Maybe even work a way to have her for a class (except that this stupid school doesn’t let you know who teaches which course until a week before they begin…stupid).

Anyway, it was a really nice moment, and I wanted to share. :) Hope everyone else gets a moment like that today.
